This summer flew by me and it honestly felt in the moment that it was eternal but now looking back it seems that it was fleeting. I spent time with my fiance and friends. I went to Michigan and I camped in a really remote location and I felt like I was going to get attacked by a wild animal. But hey! It adds to the thrill and the experience. I also joined the Tech Bar which is great, worked a little bit over the summer, and met a dude with a website called “Cat Chronicles” that had some really interesting writing about the couch being an evil being. That made me think of how couches can really be an evil being, they are comfortable, and if we think about it our greatest weakness is being lazy, and one thing that can contribute to our laziness is definitely the comfort of a well-padded couch.

I read a bit, usually, I like to read, or so I say. I do, but it’s hard to get the motivation to do it; I think I lack discipline (I know I do). This summer however I read East of Eden by Steinbeck which as a fellow aspiring writer I can safely say that the man is a genius. His writing is introspective, captivating, emotional, and incredibly descriptive. I read Steinbeck in the past, and just like Mark Twain he’s one of the reasons I aspire to be a writer. Its depth is unmeasurable and you can even know what kind of writing it’s going to be by reading the dedication in the first pages. It’s a weird sentence to say but he has one of those voices that is well-crafted. Besides all of that, that was my summer, was a calm, non-productive summer, one of the last that I’ll have like that now that I’m a senior in college, I have a foot out the door toward real adulthood.
